The Constellation Observatory Collection

The Constellation Observatory marks a new era in precision legacy. Nine references in 39.4 mm, powered by two new calibres. It becomes the first two-hand collection tested by the Laboratoire de Précision, using an acoustic method that makes the seconds hand unnecessary in precision testing.

The First Two-Hand Master Chronometer

The Constellation collection was launched in 1952, its name drawn from the observatory emblem representing the precision records OMEGA set at chronometer trials between 1933 and 1952. It is the first two-hand watch in the world to achieve Master Chronometer certification. All four of OMEGA’s proprietary gold alloys appear within a single collection alongside O-MEGASTEEL offering a choice of materials and finishing unlike anything in the collection’s history.

The Constellation Observatory is the first two-hand watch tested by the Laboratoire de Précision, an independent certification body certified by METAS and officially accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Service. Using Dual Metric Technology, the Laboratoire captures the acoustic signature of each movement across 25 days of continuous testing, measuring temperature, position, and atmospheric pressure throughout. METAS grants Master Chronometer certification based on the Laboratoire’s measurements.

  • Close-up on the yellow dial
    The Constellation Observatory precious metal editions carry a hand-guilloché finish that reflects light across the full surface of the dial. The dodecagonal pie-pan dial is one of the most recognised designs in the Constellation collection.
  • Close up on the Dog-leg lugs
    The angular dog-leg lugs, which distinguished OMEGA models of the era, are one of OMEGA’s defining design codes giving a distinctive profile that curves close to the wrist.

    The faceted kite-form indexes and dauphine hands draw on earlier Constellation models while meeting the finishing standards of the collection.
  • Moonshine™ Gold mesh bracelet
    The full 18K Moonshine™ Gold edition is completed by an 18K Moonshine™ Gold mesh bracelet in a nine-row brick pattern. Case, bracelet, and movement come together in a seamless precious metal expression.
  • Close-up on the Black ceramic pie-pan
    One O-MEGASTEEL reference features a pie-pan dial in black ceramic, valued for its depth of colour and visual contrast. The sharp facets of the dodecagonal form have been precisely executed in ceramic, a technical and visual first for the Constellation.

    The eight stars on the medallion represent six first-place awards and two world records set at observatory chronometer trials between 1933 and 1952. They are the founding achievement behind the Constellation name.

Two new Master Chronometer calibres power the collection featuring an applied Constellation Observatory medallion, first introduced in 1952, on a skeletonised rotor-base. The Calibre 8915, built for the precious metal editions, features a rotor and balance bridge in either 18K Moonshine™ or Sedna™ Gold. The Calibre 8914 powers the O-MEGASTEEL references with a rhodium-plated finish. Both are OMEGA Master Co-Axial movements built to the highest precision standard.
